This is a hypertext link to a web page or site from another site. Inbound or back links count as votes by the site that placed the inbound link. A site can place more then 1 but not to many votes or inbound links per page. The more links are placed the less weight the link holds.
Inbound links are very important for web sites, the more relevant the voting site is to the site that receives the vote the better the vote counts. The anchor text in the inbound link is something to think about, this anchor text helps the receiving site score better in when a user searches for that text in a search engine.
